As a member-owned, community-based financial institution, Direct Financial and NEFCU are not only a reflection of the communities we serve, but active participants. We firmly believe that the responsibilities of citizenship extend to organizations like ours, and we work everyday to improve the well-being – financial and otherwise – of the individuals and communities we serve.
Areas of Focus
Nursing and Science Education
At Direct Financial, we recognize that health care and the sciences play a vital role in the local community, contributing significantly to our economy and quality of life. To ensure these sectors remain strong, Direct Financial is committed to expanding educational opportunities in these critical disciplines by offering targeted scholarships to members who are pursuing careers in nursing or the hard sciences. A Direct Financial Nursing Scholarship of $3,000 is awarded annually to one member enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate nursing program. Likewise, we recognize one member annually who is pursuing a degree in the sciences with a $3,000 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship.
Financial Literacy
Direct Financial promotes financial literacy throughout our community. We sponsor a wide range of free seminars, both to our members and the public-at-large, on topics ranging from budgeting, to home ownership, to financing an education or planning for retirement. In addition, we offer programs for high school and college students to help ensure the young adults in our area have the skills and awareness to make smart financial decisions.
